The school is located near the beautiful West Lake. As one of the first Green Schools, it has quiet and beautiful surroundings with varieties of trees and flowers all over the campus. There are 36 teaching classes in the school with over 1700 students and 171 staff, including five distinguished teachers and 50 senior teachers. More than 10 teachers have obtained the honor titles

At the base of classroom teaching, the school develops the quality-oriented education, pays great attention to making the structures of curriculums better, making the contents of curriculums new, and strengthening the development of school courses which are represented by researching study. The school has always been very keen on developing the research of education and ??study in research; research in study?? had been our school??s special style. The school tries the best to change the traditional teaching model, to explore the new teaching model on meaningful activities. The school pays close attention to the students?? personality, carries out the teaching in different ways, encourage the effective cooperation study, stimulate the connection between information technology and subjects in order to improve the revolution of teaching methods and study ways, to develop the teaching quality, level and state.

The school pays much attention to the education of the ideology and morality, which focuses on the community responsibility. Meanwhile, learning how to behave, learning to be responsible has formed to be its characteristic. This characteristic is based on some means of traditional activities, such as P.E. Week, Art Week, Mental Health Education Week and so on, and a series of patriotism education and social practice.

As an attached school to Zhejiang University, the school has established experimental classes of science in each grade, aiming at training the students?? creativity and the ability of social practice. There is an entrance examination held for the students of experimental classes in Grade Two. Around 10 of them are admitted to Zhu Kezhen Institute of Zhejiang University each year.

In 1991, the school was appointed as International Window School by Hangzhou government to open to international visitors. Up to now, it has built a good relation of long-term cooperation and friendly exchange with some educational organizations from Japan, Britain and Australia. A great many students and graduates will go abroad for a further study every year.

With our great efforts, the school has been appointed as National Experimental School for Modern Educational Technology by the Ministry of Education as well as Advanced School in Teaching Research by Zhejiang Education Committee. Now the school is striving for a reputed first class modern school.
